Research Summary
Research into low temperature preservation of cells, tissues and organs for clinical applications; effects of ischaemia / reperfusion injury in surgery; organ-specific metabolic effects of chemotherapy, surgery and transplantation; liver and pancreas studies; translational research on hypothermic liver perfusion for transplantation; stem cells and tissue engineering in hepatic support and vascular biology.

Intercalated BSc in Surgical Sciences; joint course tutor with Dr Marilena Loizidou; iBSc module on transplantation sciences. MSc in Surgical Sciences; module on liver transplantation joint with Professor Brian Davidson. Postgraduate tutor and supervisor for M Phil / MD Res / PhD thesis projects relating to applied cryobiology, transplantation and surgical sciences. Visiting professor in cryobiology at University of Bedfordshire; contribution to MSc module (applications of cryobiology in medicine and biotechnology).
