Prior to joining the Institute for Global Health in 2007, I worked for various international medical and development NGOs in Latin America and Africa. I have an MSc in medical anthropology and conducted my fieldwork on medical pluralism and health-seeking behaviour in the Peruvian Amazon. I am currently based in Mumbai working with a local NGO, the Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action (SNEHA), on interventions to improve maternal and newborn health. I'm also studying part-time for a PhD, focusing on the behaviour of informal private health providers in Mumbai’s slums and patterns of maternal care-seeking by women residents.
