Mr Goldberg is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, in Stanmore, UK, whose main research interests are in translational research that has an obvious and tangible benefit to patient care. He is a highly innovative technologists having been involved in more than 1000 Start-Up healthcare medical ideas. His research is across the translational spectrum from basic science through to clinical trials and health services research especially where a regenerative approach is necessary, totalling in excess of £7m of research grants, including an NIHR Health Technology Assessment Award for a surgical multicentre RCT. His MD Thesis was on the subject of cell-based cartilage repair and was Awarded by the University of London. Mr Goldberg was awarded an OBE in the Queens New Year’s Honours List 2011 for services to medicine.

Co-Founder – Medical Futures
The Medical Futures Innovation Awards encourage, support and reward innovation from front line healthcare professionals. To date, over £100m has been raised by past winners through commercial investment or trade sales and several have gone on to become successful products and services that are now benefiting patients. This initiative began from a standing start and is now regarded as Europe’s largest showcase of early stage healthcare innovation. Medical Futures have over 100 thought leading experts sitting as Judges. Over 5000 clinicians have participated in educational events or as applicants for Awards.
Mr Goldberg is involved in more than £7m of research grants, including an NIHR Health Technology Assessment Award for a surgical multi centre RCT and a Stem Cell First In Man study looking at the effects of Autologous Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Achilles Tendinopathy. He supervises students in PhD projects, Masters Theses and Intercalated BSc's. His MD Thesis was on the subject of cell-based cartilage repair and was Awarded by the University of London.
Mr Goldberg is a lead on a Master's course for orthopaedic surgeons, entitled the UCL MSc in Trauma & Orthopaedics. This is a pioneering project linked to the North East Thames Deanery Orthopaedic Training Programme, centred around the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He is also module leader for the MSc in Musculoskeletal Science, and the iBSc in Orthopaedic Science at UCL and Series Editor of the Clinical Talk Series and co-author on the best selling textbook, Surgical Talk.
