Research Summary
My main area of research is in studies of the factors associated with the progression of HIV infection and AIDS, which requires close collaboration with immunologists, virologists and clinicians, both in England and across Europe. Since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) during 1996-1997 much attention has been focused on the response to HAART among patients with HIV, and this can be measured in terms of immunological, virological and clinical responses. I have been affiliated with the EuroSIDA study since 1997. EuroSIDA is an internationally acclaimed observational study and is the largest multinational HIV Cohort study worldwide, with over 13,000 patients from across 30 countries in Europe. I am a grant holder for this study, one of only 4 studies of HIV-infected patients funded by the European Commission. I head the statistical team, coordinate all statistical analyses, and lead any London-based coordination activities.
