Anni-Maria Pulkki-Brännström studied Economics and Politics at the University of York. She then moved to the University of Warwick, where she completed a MSc in Economics followed by a PhD from Warwick Business School. She joined UCL IGH in 2009 and held a joint appointment with Umeå University in 2013-5 before moving full-time to Umeå.
Dr Anni-Maria Pulkki-Brännström is a health economist with a specific focus on the evaluation of complex public health interventions in maternal and child health as well as health equity. During her appointment as Research Associate at IGH between 2009-2015, she undertook economic evaluations of participatory women’s group interventions in Malawi, Bangladesh and Nepal. She is currently working on evaluating the Salut child health promotion programme in Västerbotten, Sweden, where she holds a position as Senior Research Assistant at Umeå University (http://www.phmed.umu.se/english/units/epidemiology). In that role, she is also involved in a SIDA-funded research collaboration with the National University of Rwanda.
Anni-Maria continues to be actively involved in research at IGH through the IGH Economics of Global Health and Development group (ighe.org). She is also co-supervisor to UCL PhD student Sungwook Kim.
