Fiachra Mac Góráin

I completed a Classics degree at Trinity College Dublin in 2002, a Master of Studies in Classics at Oxford University in 2005, and in 2009 a doctorate entitled 'Tragedy and the Dionysiac in Virgil's Aeneid.'  I am currently preparing a monograph, Virgil's Dionysus, and articles on the poetics of vision in the Aeneid, the reception of Virgil in Ireland, and Cristoforo Landino and Virgilian Platonism.

Research Summary

Augustan poetry, especially Virgil; Virgilian exegesis; Dionysus in Latin poetry; the reception of Virgil in Ireland; intertextuality.
