Research Summary

All organs of our body depend for their normal development and functioning on one or several different epithelial cell types.   Although epithelial cells come in different shapes, sizes, and structures, their surfaces are generally polarised and they interact with each other via different types of cell-cell junctions.  We are interested in how epithelial cells generate cell surface polarity and how tight junctions, one of the epithelial cell-cell junctions, function and participate in the regulation of epithelial differentiation.
