Biography

Dr Hudson is a consultant paediatrician at Great Ormond Street Hospital working within the departments of General and Adolescent Paediatrics and Mental Health. Dr Hudson's particular clinical interest is in medical aspects of psychological medicine, in particular eating disorders as well as general adolescent health. However he is generalist with interests in all areas of child and adolescent health. He is also the medical consultant for the Adolescent Medicine and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Service at University College London Hospital.

Dr Hudson trained in medicine at Sheffield University and trained in Paediatrics in Sheffield, London and Melbourne (Australia), completing his specialist training as a General Paediatrician in both Australia in and the UK (member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians of Australasia).

Dr Hudson also works as a senior lecturer within the General and Adolescent Paediatric Unit at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.

Dr Hudson is a member of the steering group for the Young People's Health Special Interest Group (YPHSIG). He is also the council member for education and training for the International Association of Adolescent Health (IAAH). He is an independent editorial board member of Youth Voice, a publication which facilitates young people's participation in research. He is also the paediatric member of guideline group for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) Eating Disorders Guideline (2015-17).

Dr Hudson is a delegate 2016 for the British American Project.

Research Themes
Research Summary

Dr Hudson's research interests are in general and adolescent paediatrics, especially medical aspects of paediatric underweight and overweight.

Teaching Summary

Dr Hudson currently lectures and tutors for UCL medical school. Previously he was a lecturer/tutor for the University of Melbourne (2007-2009), Imperial College London (2005) and Sheffield University (2002-2005).

He also  regularly provides workshops on working with young people for medical students, qualified doctors and other health professionals.
