Rob Miller is Associate Professor of Clinical Infection at UCL, Honorary Professor at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Honorary Consultant Physician at Camden Provider Services, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust,University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and at Whittington Healthcare. Since 2010 he has been Editor in Chief of British Journal of Hospital Medicine. He is Chair of several Trial Steering Committees for pleural disease trials (malignant pleural effusion, empyema, and pneumothorax). Member of Guidelines Writing Committee for: Guidelines for treatment and prevention of opportunistic infections in HIV-infected adults (British HIV Association/British Infection Association: 2011), Treatment guidelines for tuberculosis (TB)/HIV infection (British HIV Association: 2018), Guidelines for prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections in HIV-infected adults and adolescents (US National Institutes of Health/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/HIV Medicine Association of the Infectious Disease Society of America, current since 2009).
Research focuses on the respiratory complications of HIV infection, specifically Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia and tuberculosis, ICU outcomes for HIV-infected patients, and infectious and malignant pleural disease among the general population.
Teaches Undergraduate Clinical Medical Students, and on other Masters and Diploma courses.
